The Primary School is for Years 1 to 6 (Age 5-11) following the Cambridge International Primary Programme.

Years 1-6 follow the Cambridge International Primary Program which details the curriculum in English, Maths and Science. Standards within this curriculum are controlled by the Cambridge Achievement Tests at the end of each school from Y3 to Y5. The Y6 test is graded by Cambridge to allow the level of the student to be compared to those in similar schools in over 120 countries. This allows us to ensure we are offering an excellent education on a global standard.

The Cambridge International Primary Program is flexible in the other subjects allowing the school to form a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs of the enrolled students. Y1-Y5 have been accredited by the Amazonas Education Council and a semester´s Brazilian History is taught in Portuguese in Y2 and Y5. The rest of the social studies courses are taught in English. Portuguese is taught at all levels from Y1-Y6 – at beginner, intermediate and native Brazilian level. There is also Music, Art and Physical Education offered throughout the Primary years. From Y3 French is offered to those who are already fluent in Portuguese and English or any others who desire to seize this opportunity.

Individual students´ needs are top priority, and students are encouraged to grow within a friendly, family atmosphere – with small classes – up to 20 students. Homework is kept to a minimum – Y1-Y3 can expect up to 30 minutes each evening and Y4-Y6 can expect 45 minutes. The goal is mainly to introduce the students to the discipline of taking their books home, and to allow the parents to follow what is being taught in class.
